All of Joe's KeyMaker 8 USB (KM8) are shipped NOT Activated.

KM8 will do NOTHING useful until it has been activated.

Once you have installed the appropriate USB drivers and Terminal Software for your Operating System of choice you can interact with KeyMaker 8 USB.

Connect your KM8 to a USB port on your computer and switch it ON.

Run your Terminal software.

Unless you have already set and saved these settings;

Select the Port that was allocated to KM8 during the USB Driver installation.

Set up the Serial Port on your Terminal software to;

Baud rate: 115200
Data: 8 bit
Parity: none
Stop: 1 bit
Flow control: none

Save all these setting so you don't have to do this again.

Press the Reset button on KM8

You will be greeted with the following screen reminding you that KM8 must be Activated before it will work.

You email your KM8 Serial Number from the same email address that is registered to the PayPal account, the one you used to purchase your KM8.

Send your email to 

 

The KM8 Serial number in the example above is KM8333941

Your KM8 Serial number will be a different number as all KM8's have a Unique Serial Number and a Unique Activation Product Key that ONLY works on that Serial Number KM8.

By return email. to your PayPal registered email address. you will receive your unique 8 alpha character Activation Product Code that you can type in at the Initial Activation menu.

Once you have received your Unique Activation Product Code by return email:

you press 8 to select Initial Product Activation

You press 1 to select Initial Activation command

You type in your Unique Activation Product Key

If you type in the correct product key you will see PASS followed by any remaining options that can be Activated with a different (Unique) product key for that option for your KM8 Serial number, the unique product key for your KM8 will ONLY work on your Serial numbered KM8.

in the example above Activation product key YIWYGEVD was typed in and accepted.

if you purchased the CRC1 and CRC2 Product Key this is were you would enter it.

You can return to this menu from the Main menu at any time.

If you mistype the Activation product key there is a mandatory 5 second delay, then you can try typing in your Product Key again.

Having successfully Activated your KM8 you press 0 to see the Main Menu.

Note: on the Main Menu above, Command 8 is for any remaining options that can be Activated, once the CRC option has been activated you will no longer see command 8 displayed as there is no remaining Option to Activate.

Activation ONLY needs to be performed once and remains in effect forever.

With your KM8 Activated now is a good time to become familiar with the Menus and commands

It is safe without any EEPROM connected to try all the commands and operations, you will not damage anything.

ALL COMMANDS ARE NUMBERS

Pressing 0 (zero) will always take you back to the Main Menu.

Try the various EEPROM types and also try to perform the various operations, you will see the various error messages and also become familiar with those.

Once you have become familiar with your KM8 Menus and feel confident using them, it's time to put it to good use.
